Modules

Module 1 — Naming the journey

Install, first value, and “kept” states for plugins that live inside host apps. Includes a limitation lab: why day-1 activation lies for rare-use tools.

Module 2 — Event contracts

Property design, identity stitching across host and plugin contexts, and how to version without breaking historical cohorts.

Module 3 — Retention windows

Choosing windows that match plugin rhythm — creative tools vs. compliance plugins — and communicating the tradeoffs.

Module 4 — Funnel honesty

Drop-off diagnosis without theatrical dashboards. Practice annotating releases, outages, and marketing spikes.

Module 5 — Readouts that decide

Write and present adoption narratives for product councils. Peers score clarity, not polish.

Module 6 — Capstone clinic

Bring your live catalog. Instructors and classmates stress-test your metrics before you show leadership.

Learner notes

“Module 2 forced us to delete twelve redundant plugin events. Painful for a week, quieter dashboards forever after.”

The retention window exercises were useful, though the homework assumes you already have warehouse access — we had to wait on IT for days before finishing Module 3.

FAQ

Do I need a specific analytics stack?

No. Examples reference common warehouses and product analytics tools, but assignments are stack-agnostic as long as you can export event samples.

Is there a real limitation I should know about?

Yes. Adoption Signal Lab does not cover mobile SDK crash telemetry or ad attribution. If your “plugin” is primarily a paid acquisition channel, this syllabus will feel incomplete — choose Instrumentation Walkthroughs instead.

How live is “live”?

Two 75-minute sessions per week in KST evenings, plus async critiques. Recordings stay available for 90 days after the cohort ends.

Can my whole team join?

Yes. Team seats share a Slack-style channel (or your preferred tool) and a private readout rehearsal. See pricing tiers for seat packs.
